pre-gig gig
Waking up in Copenhagen to the sound of the Scissor Sisters on my mobole phone alarm clock without a hangover I might add, those few frantic minutes checking, double checking and triple checking you have left your trousers OUT of your suitcase before Pete drops by to take it to the plane. Nothing worse than appearing at reception to check out in your underpants. Order breakfast and gaze out into the Danish rain pondering about the weather for today's short flight south to Hamburg. We're out of the hotel and on the way to the terminal before I know it and as we arrive Pete is there to warn us to surrender our swiss army knives as we have to go through security in a main terminal. We promptly give them to the team of drivers who will hand them back in Stockholm, I hope. I'm a bit lost without it I have to say. Halfway through the flight and tucking into smoked trout and prawns served by our twin air hosties Barbara and Mira, I notice the sea is a-churning below and sure enough, as we come in to Hamburg airport the plane starts to buck around in a manner as to cause Paul Crockford to wonder if he packed spare undies in his carry-on. A sturdy 25 knots North-Westerly crosswind made sure our pilots earned their money...and they did. straight into the familiar Mercedes convoy and on to the Hyatt in Hamburg. Definitely a tour favourite hotel with a gym to die for (or die in). Off to the venue shortly afterwards, straight to catering for some healing soup and then whisked into a meet and greet in front of a capacity crowd of about 30. We run through the old Hawaiian favourites and Mark can't resist it, he's soon in there whanging away on Richard's beautiful Eastman arch top.
