| As
Mark said when he announced done with bonaparte during
the show tonight "I don't think I'd written this song the last
time
I
was
here". Indeed, the last time we played Wembley Arena was back in
the days of the Straits, I would guess 1992? We recalled playing
16 Wembley Arena nights in succession during the BIA tour during
which one day we 'nipped' across the car park to do our Live-Aid
spot. Apart from being disorientated when we arrived inside the
new Arena due to the whole thing being reversed, the improvements
are, well, an improvement. I must apologise for the relatively poor
quality of the images in todays entry, one day off at home and
I get very lazy with
the camera. It was great to see Jon Allen (a very good friend of
my cousin Amity Fletcher who hosts Wednesday nights at the Ginglik
club in
Shepherds bush) supporting us in what was his biggest gig to date.
Excellent he was too. Mark has agreed to play guitar on a track on
his album. On to the show itself, not the easiest for us onstage as Wembley is always a bit tricky sonically and the home crowd element adds to the equation. Still we had a blast as usual and probably the only after-show bash of the tour where I believe there were 800 guests! It was a bit like 'this is your life' with Eamonn Andrews as every time I turned round I ran into a unexpected but familiar face. Great fun. |

![]() One thing which never ceases to amaze me is quite how fast the crew load out. This pic was taken only two hours after we left the stage. As you can see, everything is in the trucks, just the bare stage left. |
